Hambrook — where the structure disappears.

📍 Greenwich, Connecticut
Location
Greenwich, Connecticut
Project Type
Residential Estate
Year
2023

The Hambrook brief was simple: the homeowners didn't want anyone to be able to tell where the house ended and the pergola began. They had hired the architect for the original house and wanted Breslow to extend that same architectural language outside.

Our team studied the home's existing column profiles, crown moulding, and fascia detail — then milled custom Azek PVC trim to match every line. The motorized screens are completely concealed inside a hollow beam: invisible when retracted, fully functional when deployed. From the lawn, you see what looks like the original architecture; from inside, you have a fully-operable, weather-controlled outdoor room.

Fun FactThe original architect later visited the finished install and asked if Breslow had drawn a new wing of the house — he hadn't been told a pergola was being added.
