Everything You Need to Know

What a motorized pergola is, and why it isn’t a DIY job.

Three and a half minutes: how the louvers work, what the online price tags leave out, and why the best systems only come through certified installers. Tap a chapter to jump to it.

Why Azenco

The best-built motorized pergola on the market

We sold and serviced other louvered roofs for years before we settled on this one. Here is what actually separates it:

Motorized aluminum louvered pergola with concealed fasteners and integrated lighting
Adjustable aluminum louvers · integrated lighting and fans
Concealed screen beam and joinery on an aluminum pergola
Concealed hardware · not a fastener in sight
Louvered pergola with custom trim and decorative rafter tails
Custom trim packages · it reads as part of the house
Motorized screen shade lowered from a concealed track in the pergola frame
Screens run inside the frame · no bolted-on tracks
Freestanding white aluminum louvered pergola beside a pool
Powder-coated aluminum · holds its line span after span
Zero water issuesClosed louvers seal against each other. You sit through a downpour dry.
Built-in drainage systemIntegrated gutters in the frame, concealed downspouts inside the posts.
No visible screwsEvery fastener hidden inside the frame — one clean architectural line.
Hurricane ratedUp to 195 mph, Miami-Dade certified, PE-stamped where required.
Warranty and service that hold10-year structural, 5-year motor, plus Breslow's own labor warranty.
Made in AmericaManufactured in Miami — not imported, not a kit.

Our Creed

Quality, craftsmanship, and relationships that last.

At Breslow, we’re a high-end motorized louvered pergola contractor, and we build with the gold-standard system in the industry. As a 102-year-old family business, what we take the most pride in is quality service, true craftsmanship, and the long-lasting relationships we build with our customers. That is our creed.

What we build for our customers is a true year-round outdoor oasis. Rain sensors close the roof for you, fans keep the summer comfortable, and screen shades and heaters hold back the wind and trap the heat when it turns cold. The time with friends and family that Northeast weather quietly takes from you, you get back. It’s an investment in your property that buys back time you would otherwise miss.

Azenco vs. the Competitors

Two films. Nothing hidden.

Not a showroom, not a rendering — an Azenco R-Blade and a Struxure roof in the same backyard, in the same weather. Watch the joinery, the louver seal, and where the water actually goes.

We install Azenco, so we are not a neutral party — which is exactly why we filmed it instead of writing a comparison chart.

Our Own Crew

The people who build it work for us.

Design, engineering, permitting and installation run out of one in-house team. Here is that crew on a job site, and a homeowner on what it was like having them at the house.

On site, mid-build“Really proud of this job — this is my crew working.” — Dana Shaw
“A pretty flawless install”“Your guys are super nice… if I noticed something and shared it, they immediately came out and addressed it.” — Breslow homeowners

Where We've Built

From the Hamptons to Darien to Woodcliff Lake.

Step by Step

Every Stage,
in Plain English

01

A virtual consultation, first

It starts on a Zoom. We run through jobs we have actually done and the styles available, and we give you an idea of cost up front — before anyone has spent time on drawings. The honest purpose of this call is to work out whether we are a good fit for each other. Sometimes the answer is no, and that is a perfectly fine outcome for a first conversation.

02

Then the 3D design work

If it makes sense to keep going, we move into 3D design. This is where we work out how it is going to look and how it is going to function — the overall footprint of the system, where it attaches, how you move through the space. You are looking at your own house, not a catalogue photograph.

03

You look at the designs and tell us

We go through the designs together and see if it works for you. Nothing advances until it does. This is the stage where changing your mind is free, which is exactly why we put it before engineering rather than after.

04

Engineering, then the order

Once the design is settled we get the engineering done, so we know the structure is going to be sound — it is a permanent structure attached to your home, and it gets treated like one. With engineering complete, the system goes into order.

05

Permits — if you need them

If your project requires a permit, we go through that process and get it for you. If it does not, we bypass that step entirely. Permitting is the one part of the timeline nobody can promise a date on, because it depends on your township, not on us.

06

Three to four weeks later, the crew arrives

Roughly three to four weeks after that, our crews come out. They lay down all the protective materials first, then start installing. A big crew handles the whole thing — you are not managing subcontractors or chasing anybody, and the site gets protected before a single tool comes out.

07

A handful of days on site, not weeks

A typical job of this kind is a short on-site window rather than a months-long disruption. Dana gives the specific range in the video. The crew is large enough to handle everything in one visit instead of stretching the work out across weeks.

08

And after the crew leaves

If there is ever a problem, you call us and we come back and take care of it. We also offer maintenance plans, which a lot of people take us up on. This is the part most people forget to ask about, and it is the part that matters in year three.

What You're Booking

A 60-minute design consultation — free, and genuinely no-obligation

We start with a Zoom call — no obligation, no pressure. We walk through your space, your architecture, and what's possible. If we're a mutual fit, we send one of our designers to your home with our Matterport scanner to capture precise measurements. From there, we move into full design.

60 Minutes Zoom or Phone No Cost Nobody Comes to Your Door

What the call covers

  • Your space, your architecture, and what's actually possible on it
  • Style options, louvers, screens, lighting and heat — what each one changes
  • An honest investment range, up front, before anyone spends time on drawings
  • Whether we're a mutual fit — sometimes the answer is no, and that's fine

What it isn't

  • Not a hard sell — there's no close at the end of this call
  • Not a generic product demo read off a slide deck
  • Not a final quote — real numbers come after we measure
  • Not a salesperson turning up at your house unannounced

How to prepare

  • Be somewhere you can see a screen
  • Photos or a quick video of the space, if you have them
  • Rough dimensions — a tape measure guess is plenty
  • Whoever else is deciding, on the call with you
Pick any time that suits you — you'll get a text with the Zoom link, plus reschedule and cancel links. Change it as often as you like, no hard feelings.

Breslow was founded in 1924 as a paint store in New Jersey. A hundred and two years later, four generations in, we still measure, engineer, and install every project ourselves.

Every job is overseen by a member of the Shaw family. Every system carries a lifetime service commitment.

That hasn’t changed in 102 years.
